The 2010 Budget
Since the day Gordon Brown walked into Downing Street 13 years ago, every single Labour Budget has contained stealth taxes and deceptions hidden away in the small print of the Budget Report and the other economic reports that the Government publishes on the same day. I suspect this one will be no different. We can’t let Gordon Brown get away with it – because otherwise the recovery and jobs will be at risk.
So today we’re building on our plans to open up politics by publishing the entire Budget online and in an open and interactive format. In other words, we are crowdsourcing the Budget Response. So if you want to help pick apart Gordon Brown’s deceptions – take a look at the documents and post us your comments.
If you spot a dodgy figure, come across a hidden tax rise or see anything else that you think might be helpful, just let us know. Our team will read everything you send in, and we will be making use of your comments as we respond to the Budget in the hours and days ahead. With your help, we can help to expose Labour’s deceptions – and make sure this is Labour’s last Budget for a long time.
UPDATE: When we published the full Budget on this website, thousands of people pored over its pages and we received over a thousand comments on the detail. A number of these crowdsourced comments helped to shape our response, and subsequently the response of the media – including this major story. If you were one of the people who helped – thank you.
